Warka is situated in the southern part of Mazowiecka Plain, in the lower course of
the Pilica river. Warka is one of the oldiest Polish towns. The area situated north from the Pilica valley is
a fragment of Wysoczyzna Rawska, with slightly uneven moraine and heigh range of frontal moraine in the region of Rytomoczydla, Nowa Wies and Wichradz. The Middle of this
valley is filled with post-glacial formations of the last glaciation. Boulder-clay and river
loam as well as sand stones are predominant.
The climate of this part of Mazowsze is characterized by relatively profitable rain
fall (about 500mm) and big insolation. All these factors has created diverse (espetially in the
region of Warka) landscape and good conditions for early-historical settlement.
